Fore! Ooyala and British Open Tee Up Online Video Coverage

July 17, 2012

Get ready for fairway action, lots of accents and the Claret Jug.

Yes, the British Open is upon us, and guess who's powering its videos online? (Hint: It's Ooyala, the leading online video analytics company.)

For online spectators, the Open has a fantastic interactive golf course on its website powered by Ooyala. The interactive media shows details of particular holes, videos of famous shots, flyover video footage, and additional images of the greens.

You can download the official Open Championship iPad app here, and keep up with all the action from your Apple tablet. The 2012 Open Championship also has an iPhone App, for mobile, multi-screen video highlights. Android owners can also keep up with the action on their devices.

Ooyala is partnering with The R&A, the organization that hosts The Open Championship, and providing them with global online video analytics. We are also helping them publish content to their official YouTube Channel.

In addition to the on-demand videos of the event, there will be 3,676 hours of television coverage reaching an estimated 458 million people. All in all, this golf tournament is expected to bring the economy of Northwest England approximately £90,000,000.

We're excited to be a part of such a momentous occasion and an event as storied as the British Open. Ooyala is no stranger to streaming the world of sports to connected devices. In addition to The Open Championship, we power online video for Wimbledon, the Australian Open and the soon-to-be launched Pac-12 Network.

Stay tuned for more updates from the Open, and as always, thanks for watching!
