I recently sat down with David Thodey, CEO of Telstra, Australia's largest telecommunications company, and lead investor in Ooyala's series E round.
We spoke about online video trends, multi-screen broadcasting and personalized media.
"We're very excited about the multi-screen world."
As David explains in the above video, Telstra is designing smarter media systems that understand viewer habits and behaviors, and are able to deliver the right content to the right screen at the right time, to delight connected viewers around the world.
"If I could sit down in front of a screen and get the content that is most relevant to me then, that would be an enormous strength."
The secret to designing the start screen of the future?
"Ease of use and simplicity is absolutely fundamental."
David also highlighted Telstra's innovative spirit, and likened it to the Australian mindset.
"Australians are quite early adopters of technology. For us to remain relevant, we've got to keep reinventing ourselves."
And in the end, he sees Telstra having "to change the whole world" with their technology.
