Spain Lost 100,000 Pay TV Subscribers in Q2

Spain lost more than 100,000 subscribers in the second quarter of this year, according to a report by the Telecommunications Market Commission

Pay revenue totaled to €419.5 million (US$545 million), compared with €420.4 million a year prior, a 0.2 percent fall. 
 
PrisaTV, which leads the nation with the most number of subscribers, saw a 2.1 percent decline to 1.7 million subscribers. Telefonica, the number 3 pay-TV brand, actually saw a 1 percent increase, with 789,009 subscribers.
 
TV ad revenues in Spain has also fell by 16 percent to €442.5 million. Private operators saw a 15 percent drop to €404.1 million; public television took an even worse hit with a 27 percent drop, bringing ad revenue down to €38.4 million.
