Monetization Monday: iPhone 5 Adoption Rate to Exceed 4S

September 17, 2012

The iPhone 5 might not be in any hands yet, but the device is expected to make up 25 percent of iPhone impressions within six months, with an adoption rate faster than the iPhone 4S.

Velti's August State of Mobile Report also looked at the Android-iOS divide, with the former slowly taking Apple's market share, an ongoing trend seen throughout the first half of the year. But the iPhone 5's release might change things. Last fall, directly after the 4S's release, Android impression volume dropped by more than 5 percent.
The other big hardware release, Amazon's Kindle Fire, has penetrated Velti's top five devices based on impressions for the first time. The iPhone, however, continues to dominate with a wide lead.
When it comes to carriers, AT&T continues to lead in impressions with more than 50 percent. Sprint increased its share by 2 percentage points to 24 percent, now tying Verizon, and T-Mobile stays in fourth place at 1 percent.
