"I Want My MTV!" - All of Europe

Turns out Europeans love music videos every bit as much as we do. A new report about TV channel distribution in Europe found MTV to be the region's most popular channel, carried by 123 operators, or 81 percent of the total market. There isn't a single channel that is distributed across all operators in Europe.

On the opposite end of the spectrum are channels that don't want widespread carriage and instead offer exclusivity to certain operators.
 
Overall, 67 channels, or 28 percent, are transmitted in high definition. Advanced Television notes that "HD channels are growing in importance as operators are eager to give subscribers something new." BSkyB leads with 60 HD channels, but it's interesting to point out that most operators carry only 50 to 60 channels to keep their total affiliate fees low.
